Passed Me By!!!

Every so often, you learn something you feel you should have known!.
A women I know told me her son got a black eye in a 'Mosh Pit'. and I had to ask what that was?
The next day I heard that the 'Mosh Pit' at Glastonbury was really good, and I understood what it meant.
Why had I not tuned into that information before....

Children Are Great!

I just happened to be in a situation today with 16 children. They ranged from 8months to 9 years, and oh there was adults there too.
Considering all in all, they were very good and entertaining to watch, never a dull moment. Where do they get all that energy from?.
This makes me think of when I was a teacher in Easterhouse and I had 35 ,6 year old's by myself in a classroom. I loved it, and I really do enjoy being around children.
but... I do admit it is also nice when you get back home... peace... quiet... and a nice cup of tea....Ah

Vision...Words

Sometimes My vision loss can cause me quite a bit of problems, and because some of my sight on the left is just not there I see £ 99.00 instead of what it is actually £199.00 ! wow what a bargain....
But there are time when my mistakes just make me laugh out loud, and lets face it, you have to have a sense of humour!!!
I was standing waiting a bus stop, looking across the road at a shop sign and said 'Archive' 'What, does that mean? What do they sell?... But what it said ( my friends told me) was 'Achievers'... Still did not know if the sold anything, but my mistake was funny... at the time!
But today I got this E-mail, and thought I'd share some of it with you
1) The bandage was wound around the wound.

2) The farm was used to produce produce ..

3) The dump was so full that it had to refuse more refuse.

4) We must polish the Polish furniture.

5) He could lead if he would get the lead out.

6) The soldier decided to desert his dessert in the desert.

7) Since there is no time like the present, he thought it was time to present the present

8) A bass was painted on the head of the bass drum.

9) When shot at, the dove dove into the bushes.

Balanced in The Middle

Here we are in the middle of our week.
Things can get quite hectic at times and then there are moments for a quiet read
At the moment I am (trying) to read book 2 of the trilogy by Philip Pullman, 'His Dark Material'. People will know what I am referring to, as the first book 'Northern Lights' was filmed as The 'Golden Compass'
This 2nd book with 3 different worlds has very difficult names for a great many characters and a very complicated story line.
I find myself re-reading over pages if I lay it down for a while. but I am determined to persevere.

Midgie Net, Jelly Shoes and the Lentil Soup

You would think that living in Scotland would mean it would be an easy thing to buy a Midgie net!!! No way. 7 shops later we eventually found one, Oh my.
Then I wanted to buy what in America they call a rash suit , but over here it just something you wear over a swim suit to prevent sunburn! can you believe with our weather I found one in the first shop I went into, and the cutest wee pair of jelly shoes to match. It is only for a 8 month old baby after all... Awww
Exhausted and somewhat weary my friend and I went into a shop, sat down and each had a bowl of delicious lentil soup.
home at last, feet in a cold bowl of water and a cool drink of Iron Bru. Yes a very good day.

A Very Good Day

How often do you get given lots of cash!!!
Well we did today....
The Coordinator of Headway and I were given the results of a sponsored run that staff from Debenhams did for Headway Glasgow. This was over £1.800, which is of such help in these difficult financial times.
Staff in small charities seem to spend a great deal of time just filling in grant forms and applying for funds, It feels like you are constantly going cap in hand to people who have money. gimme... we need...please....
So well done the girls who did the 10 k, all the money you raised is fully appreciated and will be well used... thank you

Viruses, Trojans and Worms

I think computers are great, but when things attack, they can wreak havoc and problems galore. I feel I have my full share of this kind of thing and have now installed a better form of protection, which I update fully every day. It has become a habit like brushing your teeth before going to bed. So I now switch on my commuter, open the Internet, and immediately update my protection system ( although I also think it does this update automatically).
what I like though is a wee pop up that shows me when I am under attack and what my protection is doing about it.
it seems bad enough that we have to guard against strains of flu that are out there for our bodies to cope with, but these attacks on a form of communication we now use are very dangerous, but it helps to know about them and deal with the problem. better forewarned

A lovely Walk

Our Headway walking group's next walk will be taking a route in The 'Glasgow Walks Book' known as Balloch and Whinney hill. The path leads along the river Leven out of Balloch going northward and then heads inland and upwards. A clear route is well signposted with Oak leaf marker posts.
The path is said to be very good, but after rain can be a wee bit muddy. The breeze through tree's and birdsong can accompany you uphill, till you reach a very good vantage point overlooking Luss and and the islands of Loch Lomond.
The walk is about 9k long and can take up to 3 hours.
A very good and enjoyable day will be had by all, leaving Glasgow by train and following the river Clyde initially. When the train arrives in Balloch it is very near the start of the walk. On the way back there is even a very good Chip Shop by the station, and if members make good time, they may be able to buy a poke of chips.

Lunch and Chat

There is a much higher percentage of men who have had an ABI (acquired brain injury)than women. At our drop in, sometimes women want to be in a position to talk about issues that are gender relevant and want to talk about personal things with other women who they feel comfortable with.
Today we have a women's group in Headway ( No men allowed) and we are going out for lunch.
Our women's group have had so many interesting things going on. We meet once a month. The group have had a beautician demo and talk, healthy eating discussions, taking part in exercise, looking at a box of reminiscence objects from a museum, drumming experience, everything has been lots of fun and created a lot of laughter, sometimes we have just sat and talked and shared stories, often getting comfort and encouragement from each other,
We will have a good time together, a simple thing like just going out for a meal is so difficult for some people after an ABI, The noise, lots of people, being in an unfamiliar setting, are much easier when you can join a group of people who understand what you are going through and have similar issues

Here We Go Again

Because of my ineptness at managing my technical skills ( basically I forgot some information I needed )I am no longer able to open my SAM blog. So first I had TREEFROG blog which I really enjoyed and it had so much, weather fairy, clock, music and much more. Then because of some security fears I closed that one and opened SAM. Now third time lucky. Lots of colour changes are needed as this looks very raw, So now begins a new journey and a new venture into the world of blogging.
This is mainly for friends and family, but anything online is up for grabs.
All my friends at Headway might (I hope) get something from reading this, and I look forward to their comments on SAM AGAIN ( I used to be called SAM as it was my maiden initials)
So off we go, and I hope my adventures will give a wee smile to the readers
