Another cold day, where Jack Frost has an opportunity to have a wee nip.
A wee while longer I think till we can afford to dress for warmer weather. But I do like crisp dry days like we have. we can look for snow drops in the verges and the first green leaves unfurling as the trees turn from their winter garb.
Soon the sun will be heating our backs and the skies will be blue, and enjoy the changing season.
Unfortunately I am just about to go into hospital to have a wee operation, mending my clavicle. this will put my right arm out of commission for about a month, but I do hope the outcome will be worth while.
So having just said I am back, I will be absent for 3 days and then do a left one finger type.
Till we meet up again, enjoy this weather, wrap up warm and stay busy.

Look Right

Hi everybody
I'm back at last and hope to make time to blog every day from now on.
Look at my Just Giving item on the right . I am really excited that we are last able to make plans for what will be a great day on the 28th August .
I used to love hillwalking and it is something that I have not been able to do so much since my accident. So a team of us are getting together to climb Ben Hope, which is the most northerly Munro and a real challenge for me.
Lets see lots of encouragement from all you out there and I will keep you updated on any developments

No excuses

No leg to stand on!!!
Ive just gotten out of the habit of my routine blogging.
I really do miss it and am shocked when I see how long it is, since I was last here.
How can this be? I ask myself ?
But just getting on the computer is harder these days and I can tell by the backlog of my unopened E-mails.
Lets hope things settle down and I can get back to normality.

Time Flies

I can't believe it been since the 18th Jan' that I last got round to blogging. It seems no time at all when we were all building up to Christmas and New Year. Well that's all over, and life just take on the usual flurry of a full busy week , lots to do, meetings to chair and attend. I quite often take minutes of meetings , but, see if I don't take time to type them up as soon as possible straight after I've taken them! .My scrawl and scribbles can be just baffling. I sit and look at them thinking. What does that mean....? what were we talking about then....?
It's a salutary lesson. I keep falling into the same trap. I go home with the best of intentions. I'm just going to have my tea and sit and relax for 10 minutes.... wow... before you know it it's nine o'clock 'Tempus Fugit'

Monday's

The Bangles wrote a song which went 'I hate Monday's'
But you see I don't, cos I can't wait for the start of the week.
What will it hold? A fresh start a new beginning.
I do admit than when I worked I may not have had such a chirpy attitude, but things change.
Ideas pop into my head over the weekend and I write wee notes to myself.
Then things begin to take shape in my thoughts...
and... I am really keen to talk to others... share my thoughts and move things on.

Idea

I have got this idea of making a montage or collage or a collection of photo's of family friends and folk I work with.
I have bought the frame. It a bit bigger than A3, ... I have made copies of some photo's, as my idea may mean some cutting out.
So snip, stick and clip, soon it will be on my wall

A Day In The Life Of.....

Life can get really busy.
Sometimes you have to make choices and then decide to slow down.
This week saw the start of a new member of staff at Headway. We al;so got new furniture to accommodate more folk Tardis like, more folk in the same space. Looks fab'
Been to a meeting for Transport Glasgow, roads development, we at GAP were invited to comment on any issues regarding disabled access.
It was the blue shiny glass building I have passed many times on Cadongan Street.

Curious

Well that's intriguing, but I cannot read the comment left after my last blog entry
Why
Because my Internet security blocks it!
Kaspersky says parental control setting does not allow this item!
Well what does it say?
If the person who sent it can E-mail me the comment.... !!!
Anyway, a wee bit of a thaw seems to have set in.
Do we detect a bit of warming.
Going to make myself a hot water bottle and a steamy milky decaf' coffee and read my book in bed.
Good night

Torture Chamber

Once a month I run a torture chamber thingy
Well not deliberately... silly
I give my Mum and now my Dad a Spa, vibrating bubbly foot bath in warm water, not painful at all.
Then
I rigorously rub in a lovely cream, that just happens to have pumas in it! This is the squirmy, uncomfortable bit. but it does not hurt me at all!!!
Then I snip and trim nails, and seldom see blood!
Then comes a soothing cool moisturising cream
Happy pink feet as soft as babies bums ( why do they say that!)
A bonus is that my hands are lovely and smooth.
Nae bother, and happy customers.... I think...

S-N

After a journey by car from the Borders my son and his wife are going to drive North to Kinlochbervie. We are in the middle of a big freeze and it sounds like they may have some difficulties. But they have to go! They have work on Monday, life must go on.
All I can do as a Mum is wait.... and expect a call to say they got home safe and sound.
They have sleeping bags, food and an ability to make hot drinks. There were no chains for tyres to be had in Glasgow or Stirling.
From the radio it sound as if we are in for some chilling winds.
Time to make another cuppa, and snuggle down in my fleecy blanket and enjoy my book.
I will post when the eagle has landed

A Real Personal Challenge

The Item below involves an aspect of sponsorship, So look out for the Just Giving Symbol on the right, and when we have this set up well post it on my Blog. I was bagging Munroe's when I had my accident and this is the most Northerly and one I always wanted to do.

BEN HOPE CHALLENGE E 27-29TH AUGUST 2010

The up to date news is that we now have booked the Tongue Youth Hostel for 16 places for the nights of Friday 27th and Saturday 28th. . We are now group members under Headway Glasgow.
Although the climb will be hard work it will lots of fun too, we can be flexible and nothing is set in stone. any suggestions and help are welcome, although as expedition organiser I am very happy to do all contact etc.
John will be the expedition leader and will be in charge of the walk. He is qualified and has been up Ben Hope before.
So far we have the idea of taking the train up to Lairg and as only 6 folk may need lifts we can think how this may be done logistically ?.
SYH could put a piece about us in their newsletter and we can tell Headway UK our plans too. We may ask TISO to be our main backer.

Although this personally means a lot and has a personal element,Im doing this because Headway has been a great support to me over the years and I want to give something back. All the money will be going to Headway Glasgow.

1/2 and 1/2

Back to a sort of routine, despite the winter freeze. so I spent most of the morning in Headway and we had a fundraising sub-group meeting, where people chipped in with all their ideas. People can be so creative and imaginative.
Then I played at being a secretary in GAP. Phoning, answering calls and taking notes.
We had to cancel our Christmas dinner and are trying to organise a January get together for everybody, with an Indian Carry Out and a surprise dip. Should be fun and something to look forward to.

Solid, Slippy and Scenic

On my walk over the river Kelvin today and on towards Byres Road, I saw for the first time in years that the river was frozen over. You could still see the flow of the river going on under the ice ( which is quite remarkable) How does moving water ever freeze over?
The pavements on my route were very icy and everybody including the young students were walking slowly. I was very snugly wrapped up though, with hat, gloves and scarf, but it is so good to get out and enjoy some fresh air.
Bought some Mulled Wine in M&S as I have taken a real liking to a hot glass or two, and the Green Ginger Wine has to be recommended, its yummy, believe me.

1 2 3 and Counting

Well I heard on the radio that we may have 10 more days of this cold snap. I remember heavy dumps of snow in previous years but not this sustained cold freezing icy weather. Our newly found extended family are experiencing heavy snow falls in England, I just hope they can enjoy snow ball fights, building snowmen and igloo's and sledging. Well you might as well get out there. I remember running out of dry gloves and putting old socks on and getting hot Ribina, but never the cold temperatures . I was having too much fun.
Our daughter flies back to the USA today.... but it was so good to be with so much of the family.
Now we go back to our normal routines of work and play this week, remember to smile and make all you see happy.
The news seems quite gloomy, but we wake to a way of life that is not perfect perhaps, but it can be joyous and free.
( sound a bit pretentious Eh!!)

A New Decade

Happy New Year

Well I may have got my ABI last decade, but the years after 2010 will be about how much I can do , this year is a bit transitional and I am still to go through an operation, but I hope it will be the last.

I am going to get very fit
I am going to firm up my tum, and lose some body ( not facial ) fat
I hope to join the new Maryhill Leisure Centre
I hope to see GAP and Headway develop and survive this period stronger and more resilient to changes in the economy.
